Fermanagh Republicans To Mark 60th Anniversary Of South And O’Hanlon

From the 1916 Societies news of a commemorative event this weekend in Fermanagh.



On Saturday 7th January, the Matt Fitzpatrick Society Newtownbutler are holding their annual commemoration for IRA Volunteers Sean South and Fergal O’Hanlon at Altawark Cross in Fermanagh, beginning at 3pm sharp.

South and O’Hanlon were killed on Active Service for the Republic on New Year’s Day 1957, with this year marking the 60th anniversary of their deaths.

The commemoration is now in its fourth year, with Tyrone republican and National PRO of the 1916 Societies, Sean Bresnahan, scheduled to give the main oration on this occasion.
