No Update Just Downsizing

Gerry O'Halloran posts notice of a Fallswater Protest this coming Wednesday 13th April @ 1130. Gerry O'Halloran is part of a group of carers campaigning against closures of mental health and learning disability day centres in Belfast.

The campaign to stop the closure of Fallswater day centre have organised a protest this Wednesday at 11.30.

Neil Kelly Operations Manager in the Belfast Trust and Alliance councillor, is coming to learning disability centres to "update" service users and their families on the consultation and equality impact on learning disabled services in Belfast. There is no "update", the consultation closed in December 2015. This is to try to falsely reassure people out the door of their day centres into less secure community day services, in order to save the trust £180,000.

This will see service users lose transport, and be in a rented out room until half past one in the day, after which time they must leave, in all weathers. Their day will consist of wandering shopping malls and town centres. Neil Kelly needs service users in Mica and Suffolk day centres to leave their centres, in order to accommodate 28 people from Fallswater, and then to close Fallswaters doors. This leaves the Fallswater building empty and to the mercy of vandals. Don't let this happen!! Join our protest in Wednesday April 13 at 11.30, outside Fallswater day centre top end of Iveagh street.

Fallswater Protest

On Thursday evening there will be a meeting with the unions at 5pm, for both sides of our campaign (learning disability, and mental health) to join together to maximise our potential and fight our campaign as one voice. The venue has to be arranged, but if interested and not on our mailing list contact myself, or Pat Lawlor or Joe Lynch via Facebook.
