The PH Pearse Society Galbally-Cappagh would like to thank all who attended on Monday 13th July for the Annual Wreath-Laying Ceremony for Volunteer Martin Hurson, who died on Hungerstrike after suffering for 46 days in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh.
A large crowd gathered at Galbally Graveyard, where proceedings began with a reading of the Hungerstrike Roll of Honour. Wreaths were then laid on behalf of the PH Pearse Society, the James Connolly Society Killeshil and Tyrone National Graves.
There then was the lowering of our National Flag and a minutes silence in memory of Ireland’s Patriot Dead, with proceedings brought to a finish with the singing of Amhrán na bhFiann.
Martin Hurson’s name is held with great esteem in the Galbally-Cappagh area and we the PH Pearse Society are honoured and privileged to hold this event each year. We look forward to seeing all who attended once again in twelve months time, go raibh míle maith agaibh.
