‘An Rebel Og’ – The East Cork Sinn Fein Blog Behind Party Row?

Ed Moloney takes a quick peek at what is happening in Sinn Fein in East Cork. Ed Moloney blogs @ The Broken Elbow.

Is Sinn Fein finally morphing into a ‘normal’ political party, where internal disputes burst out into the open amid competing ambitions and egos, or is the ruckus in East Cork Sinn Fein just another symptom of the top-down, control freakery that has long characterised a party that was always run more like a secret army?

Readers can judge from themselves. By all accounts the An Rebel Og blogsite stands as the manifesto of the East Cork malcontents and some of the things they say about the leadership are not kind at all. Click on the link and have a read for yourself.

Fermoy Sinn Fein Cumann

Following an EGM tonight to discuss the sanction of two Councillors by the party, it is with deep regret that we, the officer board and general membership of the Fermoy Sinn Fein Cumann, put forward our resignation.
Fermoy Sinn Fein is one of the longest standing cumann in the area and has always had a good working relationship with the two councillors in question. We hold Cllr Melissa Mullane and Cllr Kieran McCarthy in high regard on both a personal and professional level. We can, therefore, not stand idly by while what we view as a seriously unjust and undemocratic act is carried out in our name.
We consider the action an affront to the democratic, socialist and republican ideals that the party stands for and would strongly urge the Sinn Fein leadership to revisit their decision and not stand in the way of the democratic process within the party

'We consider the action an affront to the democratic, socialist and republican ideals that the party stands for and would strongly urge the Sinn Fein leadership to revisit their decision.' Isn't the ongoing incarceration of those like Gavin coyle under their watch the real affront to the ideals in question? The truth is Sinn Fein moved away from their republican principles long ago, these people are playing catch-up. Read that blog by the way, interesting stuff indeed

Humorous piece from Miriam Lord highlighting the cynical lack of transparency, openness and democracy within the Provisional Movement.

That's the second time in as many minutes that the Miriam Lord piece has been recommended. Must be worth the reading. Good man Henry Joy.

an added factor that consideration should be given to when making a judgement here
