If you wish to witness how god awful the ruling classes are you need look no further than how some of its leading members acted after the death of the Saudi Arabian satrap Abdullah. As always today when there is a dictator to be fawned upon or praised Tony Blair was first out of the trap.

Speaking from Davos where he is attending a meeting of the world's neoliberal chiselers, banksters and war criminals he said:
I knew him well and admired him greatly. Despite the turmoil of events in the region around him, he remained a stable and sound ally, was a patient and skilful moderniser of his country leading it step by step into the future. He was a staunch advocate of interfaith relations.

The British war criminal concluded by claiming Abdullah:
Launched the Arab Peace Initiative in 2002 which has stood the test of time as a potential basis for a solution to the Israeli Palestine issue.

It's only passed the test of time if you believe the solution to the Palestinian issue is to keep the present status quo in place, which leaves Israel illegally occupying Palestinian land and enforcing the continued blockade of the Gaza strip, which Mr Blair undoubtedly does.

On hearing of the old despots death Charles Windsor and David Cameron immediately booked their flights to join the so called 'foreign dignitaries' in Saudi Arabia. Cameron aping his hero Blair said he was “deeply saddened” and praised King Abdullah for his commitment to peace and for “strengthening understanding between faiths.” When we consider that Abdullah would not allow a single Christian church to be built within Saudi Arabia, to then claim as Cameron did the Saudi despot was a supporter of strengthening interfaith is in itself a giant leap of faith, if not a total distortion of the truth.

Especially as there are an estimated 1 million Roman Catholics within Saudi Arabia, mostly foreign workers some of whom are periodically detained and punished by Abdullah's Islamic religious police for worshipping in the privacy of their own homes.

US president Barack Obama said:

One of Abdullah's convictions was his steadfast and passionate belief in the importance of the US-Saudi relationship as a force for stability and security in the Middle East and beyond.
Let me run that by you again, "Stability and security in the Middle East." It’s a nice idea but sadly along with Obama, and Bush, Abdullah is directly responsible for the lack of stability and security in the region. His country's neighbours Iraq and Syria are in flames with Yemen and Jordan likely to go that way any time soon.

It was not a quirk of fate the majority of the 9/11 bombers were from Saudi Arabia, it happened because of the reactionary, sect like, ultraconservative, austere, fundamentalist puritanical Wahhābiyyah (Salafi) brand of Islam which Abdullah and his predecessors propagate and control, and have exported across the Muslim world and beyond with disastrous consequences for both Muslims and non Muslims alike.

Although Christian Lagarde, the head of the International Monetary Fund must take the biscuit for the stupidest or most deceitful statement of all when she claimed Abdullah as a feminist:
In a very discreet way, he was a strong advocate of women. It was very gradual, appropriately so probably for the country. I discussed that issue with him several times and he was a strong believer.

This wretched woman who is one of the foremost advocates of enriching the most wealthy at the expense of the less well off financially, spoke this nonsense from where else, the Davos Economic Forum in Switzerland, where her and her ilk are working to find ways to increase and ring fence the wealth of the richest 1% of the worlds population which included Abdullah before his death.

Abdullah is some feminist. A man who has ensured Saudi women are under what amounts to permanent house arrest unless accompanied by a male relative or an approved 'minder,' and even when supervised they are banned from driving, swimming, trying on clothes in shops, or even entering a cemetery to visit a parent, child, or friend's grave. Under Saudi law the word of a woman is worth half that of a man.

Abdullah held incommunicado four of his own daughters for many years, they were not even permitted to leave their homes without being under strict 'supervision.'*

Saudi women’s rights activist Wajiha Al-Huwaidar summarised the position of Saudi women:
Saudi society is based on enslavement – the enslavement of women to men and of society to the state. People still do not make their own decisions, but it is the women of Saudi Arabia who are denied everything. The Saudi woman still lives the life of a slave girl.

  1. A friend of mine working in Saudi says any none whites are treated appallingly. Philippino men don't leave the compound they have been raped. Not just the women in danger there. Evil place by all accounts. Bliar truly is a low life. No wonder Adams is such an admirer. Seems Saudi men have a similar sexual appetite to some Belfast IRA men.

  2. Larry,

Liam Adams and that Saudi preacher who tortured, raped and murdered his five year old daughter to death would certainly have a lot in common.

But the type is to be found anywhere. That a former chief of staff of the IRA should cover it up and recycle him about the communities is what makes that case so newsworthy. And then you hear the grunts screaming at everybody to shut up and leave the paedophile protector alone as it is a family matter.

  3. Brilliant and timely post. Now, if we can see how a right-wing reactionary theocracy, such as KSA, can be used to further the imperialist geo-strategic agenda of the so-called liberal West, then we can also imagine how the insidious 'Islamic State' can conceivably serve the same end and purpose. The ongoing Balkanisation of Iraq and Syria at the hands of the much maligned but secretly supported ISIS - conducted as it is through regional puppets like KSA and the Turkish regime under Erdogan (but always of course with Uncle Sam and the British Crown pulling the strings) - is not the product of 'blowback' but in fact represents the use of a malleable tool to wreak havoc as part of a wider strategy, in which of course the House of Saud, those 'royal' men whose Kingship was conceived in a barrel of oil, are a key player. If they can not only tolerate but indeed laud the hateful, fascist Wahabbi regime of Abdullah then how on earth would Islamic State, ISIS, Daesh or whatever it is they're calling them at the present moment - whose twisted play on Islam is offspring of the same Zionist womb - at this point be considered beyond the pale. No, like Abdullah and his tyrannical regime in Riyadh they are a useful asset
