Anthony I have just finished reading up heaps on Pascal … (my ignorance – I never realised how utterly amazing he was and what is so appealing apart from his profound genius is how he wrestled with such deep issues – just dove into them!) That quote of his is so accurate – know I will remember it… Thank you and Carrie for putting my small contribution on your blog and also for the added link to statement. I am deeply proud of our 21 Coptic Christian brothers as are so many Christians worldwide.
ReplyDeleteTheir tenacity, convictions, faith and courage is to me akin in many ways to our own ten Irish martyrs (1981).
The song in video is Golgotha and the melodic style dates back to Egyptian Pharaonic times when deceased Pharoahs were farewelled with specific style of chantings. Golgotha means place of the skull and it is sung on 12th hour of Good Friday in the Coptic church service. It is about Iosa’s body post crucifixion/death being collected for burial by Christians and they saw/heard the angels singing praises to the Christ & Dia… It is a beautiful Holy Spirit song usually sung in Egyptian language which comes from the ancient hieroglyphic inscriptions and predates the Arabic language.

ReplyDeleteYou would struggle to get the religious angle acknowledged by our apologist rulers, they would seemingly have us believe it's just a criminal gang attacking Egyptians.
