Gerry O'Halloran takes Jim Gibney to task over his Irish News column that fawned over the theocrat, Ian Paisley.

Its not often I'm compelled to write anything being a man of few words, but Jim Gibney in todays Irish News leaves me shaking my head, not knowing whether to laugh or rip the paper up and throw it at the wall.

Being a man of few words I'll let the pictures tell their own story. Every nationalist commentator worth their salt who is informed about the situation here has been critical of Ian Paisley. Even the odd unionist too has been critical of him.

Fionnuala O'Connor said he was a preacher who made his name as a voice of hatred...

Austin Currie said he was a bigoted hangover from the 17th century...

Newton Emmerson says may we never see Paisley's like again ...
And in todays' paper side by side with Jim Gibney is Brian Feeney who states Paisley was a malignant force on unionism ...

Forgetting the interview Paisley gave not so long ago, Jim Gibney states ...

You could think Gibney was out of touch with reality, but he is he is not on his own going by the reports in the media of what Martin McGuinness' is saying! Truly are their memories that bad? Not long ago I was reading on Facebook a post by a user called 'tricolour at city hall' who asked this question

In 1964 Paisley led a mob onto the Falls Road to remove a Tricolour from a shop window. Today a S/F councilor Jim (Flash) McVeigh went into the Springfield Avenue Belfast City council yard ladder in hand and tried to remove this Tricolour. He was told in no uncertain terms the flag stays.

The West Belfast Depot where Sinn Fein's Jim McVeigh tried to repeat Paisley's 1964 attack on the Irish Tricolour.

Its worth going there to read the comments on their own.

  1. When Connolly House send one of their elected members out of remove the national flag is it not time the people of the locale began to think it's time to put people who represent the nation into city hall, not u ik it spokes-gobshites

  2. “If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”

  3. I would hope we never see the likes of Paisley again. Remembered best as a peacemaker, another sign that SF has a future in writing comedy a wee bit of irony a man who lied about being religious is now being lied about to preserve is lies.

SF at least are being faithful to their new image no arsehole is beneath kissing not even that of a worthless excuse for a human being best remembered as a sectarian corpse.

  6. Jim McVeigh: "Martin do you think we should push for a referendum should Scotland won?"

McGuinness: "Flippin' hell Flash, catch a grip, if we get a United Ireland the British will stop funding us!!"

Jim McVeigh: "Fakes sake, I never thought of that...I'm getting a ladder to take all those Tricolours down!"
