Happy Christmas to all on this most special of days. It is a time for joy but also remembering: those who died during the year and those who are in prison, a place where I spent many Christmas days and saw men beaten. When most prison staff were prepared to suspend hostilities there were a small number who felt a kick over the mirror was a good Christmas box. So a special thought for all of those on the wrong side of the wall this Christmas morn.
Take Care everybody - especially all of you, agree with us or not, who have kept TPQ going through your comments and discussion.
Happy Chridtmas to everyone and a very Happy New Year. The Quill is an endearing space to all of us and although we fall in and fall out I think at times it can also provide a caring space. We can't forget the prisoners,if we even ventured to do that we would be forgetting part of ourselves. Anyway again, Happy Christmas Everyone.
Happy Christmas to all the TPQ-ers and I hope you lot all eat too much end up with indigestion ( becasue too many sprouts) and have the mother of hang overs tomorrow morning....
Happy Christmas all the Quillers, hope you have a peaceful, joyous day. One of our own interned by remand, I'm sure he's in everyone's thoughts as are all those taken from their families at this time because of the continuing political situation here. Peace and the Presence of The Lord be with them all
spot on (the Lord apart!!!!) - one of our own from the Quill up there separated from his family and them from him. Earlier this morn I wrote letters to both him and Scotchy Kearney. A way of letting them know they were not forgotten about.
Good man Anthony. I put pen to paper last night myself before setting up for Santa, couldn't help but think about the situation he finds himself in knowing that that's what he'd likely have been doing at that point himself were things normal. Terrible handlin'
Sean, it is good that people are showing some human solidarity with him. I have been very close to him for the best part of thirty years. Not easy to see him in there.
and to think that me and him headed over to the opening day of Scotchy's trial together. Then me and Scotchy went on the drink that evening - now both of them are inside kiterally walking the yard together and I am still on the drink. FFS.
Just seeing Nuala's comments there and for sure the Quill's an endearing space, we're lucky to have it and I for one am very appreciative of the opportunities it provided me over the past 12 months. That's Christmas for another year anyway, soon be bringing in 2014 and it all starts again - maybe someday we'll figure out what it's all about but in the meantime the big wheel keeps on turning. Take care, good night and chat soon... And Mackers go easy on that bourbon ffs, we've work to do!
Well said Nuala and may we all fall in and fall out and find ourselves here the same time next year. Best wishes and best of luck to all in the coming year.
