It is a great poster. Every woman involved in this from those who gave interviews and those who interviewed them, those who promoted the book and designed flyers and posters or organised launches are deserving of merit. I need to get it reviewed. It is such a good book
So many people forget women were involved in the War, this is an important reminder. It is incredibly difficult to read, as the women who have shared their stories are open and honest about what they went through and how it affected them and their families. At the same time, there are real bright spots as they tell of the amazing bonds they developed with one another. Every student if the Troubles should have this in their library.
Former IRA volunteer and ex-prisoner, spent 18 years in Long Kesh, 4 years on the blanket and no-wash/no work protests which led to the hunger strikes of the 80s. Completed PhD at Queens upon release from prison. Left the Republican Movement at the endorsement of the Good Friday Agreement, and went on to become a journalist. Co-founder of The Blanket, an online magazine that critically analyzed the Irish peace process. Lead researcher for the Belfast Project, an oral history of the Troubles.
A great poster Pauline
