Unrepentant Sectarian Bigots with whom Civilized Society Should have no Truck.

The following is a statement from Gerry McGeough currently imprisoned in Maghaberry

The constant political persecution directed against me by DUP extremists is  quite extraordinary. Never has any Republican prisoner had to endure such a  prolonged venomous onslaught. The latest outburst by Nigel Dodds, Arlene Foster  and Maurice Morrow, as reported on the front page of the Newsletter on May 23, 2012  is just another example of this.

I contend that this obsession with me has  nothing to do with justice or even politics, but is rooted in a near satanic hatred of the Catholic Faith, of which I am perceived to be a defender by some of these extremists. Much of this can be traced to October 2010, when the  Dungannon Free Presbyterian sect founded by Ian Paisley and with significant DUP  membership, placed a paid advertisement in the Dungannon based Tyrone  Courier newspaper, which described the Catholic mass as "blasphemous fable"  and the Pope as "a man of sin" and the "antichrist".

Incredibly, the Tyrone Courier published the ad, and Catholics, who constitute  overwhelmingly the majority of the population in Tyrone, were outraged. As a  member of the AOH in Tyrone, I was approached to give leadership on this issue,  and I did. In the first instance I brought a complaint to the  Advertising Standard Agency and, amid much local publicity, asked Unionist  politicians in the area to condemn this type of anti-Catholic sectarianism outright. They refused to do so, but they were clearly and seriously rattled by  the fact that Catholics would no longer tolerate this "croppies lie down"  attitude.

In their rage, they have run a very personalized hate campaign against  me ever since, which puts self-righteous hysterical media tirades into context.  Bearing all this in mind, I now once again call upon Arlene Foster and  Maurice Morrow to condemn this type of anti-Catholic sectarianism in East Tyrone  without reservation. Should they fail to do so, they must stand indicted before  the world as unrepentant sectarian bigots with whom civilized society should  have no truck.

Good God- how any Republican can say that about themselves goes beyond belief- none of the Hunger-strikers put out such a self-centered statement-or none of our thousands of Republican Political prisoners over the many years- sad-i hope he can get home to his family soon- but stop with the big head yarns-

  2. Gerry a cara , I will be Pleased to be at the gates when you are Released, and, I Pray you are allowed to go with your Beautiful Wife and Children, Straight to your own home, without any harrassment from anyone, As you say, "Those Bigots" They are the same Bigots who PSF had planned to join whilst the hunger strikes were prolonged untill TEN BRAVE MEN DIED for what they thought was FREEDOM FROM BRITISH RULE.

But, I said to myself, michaelhenry is going to jump on this like a ton of bricks, The biggest mistake he made in his comment was to even have the gaul to mention the HUNGER STRIKERS, also, This, "Good God- how any Republican can say that about themselves goes beyond belief", so am I to assume he is calling himself a "REPUBLICAN", ffs that would make me the 1st taoiseach of an independent Ireland, michaelhenry, I believe you have well gone over the top on your comment, as "Mr O'Neil"!! would say, "May our Lord Jesus Christ Have Mercy On Your Soul", I could have used the name O'Neil instead of, "ITSJUSTMACKER", Better to evade than be captured?. Welcome to your biggoted Orange State, and, I hope you are all satisfied with your Thirty Pieces of Silver. You ,"Sir", are a disgrace to Republicanism , just like your $inn £ein party who betrayed those Gallant Men of 1981 and let them suffer the most horrible death that any human being could have.

I see your leader in Stormont went on tv last night and sent condolences to the family of a British soldier killed in Afghanistan. Another needless death in a far away place.

Whatever happened to Marty huh? Empathising with people who take a colonial career choice of shooting and clusterbombing third world populations for adventure and career enhancement.

Marty doesn't need to talk to Orangemen, he has morphed into one.

itsjustmacker GMcG is often a little over the top with the archaic rhetoric. His religous fervour is on a par with those whom he is attacking.

In fairness, you have a point there. I go to Old firm games for the rivalry and noise, but i'm not a church goer or bible thumper. No interest in it, out-dated.

  7. Tiarna/Larry,

agreed. There would be much more endorsement of his cause if he were to refrain from religious tub thumping. While we might back his position anyway there is a big constituency out there that will be put off by this fervour. I wince when I hear it.

  9. Marty,

a Catholic Ireland. Would not find it appealing in the slightest. It should be an Ireland for everyone. Secularism, not Catholicism was always a component of the republicanism I grew up with. having said that, the rosary and all that at the commemorations sort of subverted it.

  10. AM.
a Catholic Ireland. Would not find it appealing in the slightest.

Going by the 1916 declaration, that was never on the agenda.

I agree with you on that one.

    Marty.

I am supporting Gerry as a Republican, Just like the rest who are Interned , I am not supporting him as an AOH secular and never would, being ex AOH myself, I seen enough to discourage me.

    Tiarna.

I know were your comming from regarding Gerry's archaic rhetoric, I don't support his religious stance for a United Ireland, As i stated, I support him and each person who is Interned.

We are now in a multicultural society, which was unthinkable and never discussed way back in my early days, I remember the first time I saw a coloured guy walking up our passage with a suitcase, I thought he was moving in, Door to door salesman, pay weekly, Now look at us, At the rate of young people leaving for places afar to seek work, we may end up the minority, fighting once again for our rights.
    I wonder.

sad-i hope he can get home to his family soon.

We all hope everyone of those interned are released and get home to some sort of normal or abnormal life, whichever they decide to lead.
But, facts are facts, its your own party, yes that same party we all supported, until that fateful day, "GFA" who are responsable for all of this, and can't do anything about it now, Why?, because no one needs to listen to them at stornmont.

  12. From Sandy Boyer:

A judge in Derry decided today that the case against Marian Price can go
ahead despite a UN doctor's report that she is too sick to stand trial. *The Irish News* has just disclosed a confidential report from UN Doctor Sean O'Domhaill stating that she is too ill to inform her defense.

This shows how urgent it is to come to the Public Protest Meeting for
Marian Price, Gerry McGeough and Martin Corey, tomorrow, October 27th, at 4pm at Rocky Sullivan's of Red Hook.

There is no doubt that Gerry has been subject to a degree of bitterness that is unusual as a Republican. This is because, when it comes down to it, many, if not most, members of the DUP are more anti-Catholic than they are anti-Republican. Therefore Gerry has sustained a 'prolonged venomous onslaught' that has surpassed that of any other prisoner.

I wouldn't expect an apologist for PSF to appreciate this. Some on here are not Catholic, some are not Republican. Those who subscribe to PSF are neither Catholic nor Republican. You are all that Gerry is not. But you have no claim to the legacy of the Catholic Church, nor that of the Republican movement.

  14. Hi Anthony, I haven't gone away, you know.

I was at a protest outside the Marie Stopes' clinic the other day. Me and about fifty fundamentalist prods. Awkward or what, lol! I stood a safe distance away and said the rosary.

    ReplyDelete
  15. John,

I am sure you were at the protest! Why not sacrifice a goat instead of saying the rosary? And I don't mean Nelson McCausland!

    ReplyDelete
  16. McGirr-

Your own words- " surpassed that of any other prisoner "

Why do you keep making it so easy-

According to you McGeough is getting a more harder time than any other prisoner and you are going to try and sell that one to the thousands of x prisoners and those still in prison camps- hope you have nothing to do with the prisoner PR campaign-

    ReplyDelete
  17. AM,
'I am sure you were at the protest!'

I have been to two so far. The first one where, at three days notice, 1,000 people gathered in the rain. The BBC said there were nearly 50, (but then what would that bunch of paedo facilitators knows?) Meanwhile there were SIX pro abortionists. They looked like they were either on drugs or on the game.

The second protest was seemingly organised by fundamentalist protestants, of which there were about 50. I can only congratulate them on it. It will take the Rosary to shift Marie Stopes, but if that doesn't work I will think about sacrificing a goat. The protests will be ongoing. We will be there until they close, of that I have no doubt.

  18. MH,
'According to you McGeough is getting a more harder time than any other prisoner'

Even if that were formulated in correct grammar, I would not say that. The point is that the DUP are not making constant personal attacks on Marian Price or Martin Corey, or anyone. They have singled Gerry out because they hate the Catholic religion and see him as an enemy to their very identity as well as to their State.

That is not to say that Gerry is getting a harder time than anyone. I am sure he is not. Thus your last points are redundant.

  19. John Mc Girr.

I was getting a wee bit worried about you, glad you have'nt snuffed it. lol.

I look at Gerry as I look at any other Interned Prisoner, as a Republican, Not as an AOH religion on the brain, That will never work in this day and age, People have had enough of the shirt lifting priests, they are no longer trusted. I don't subscribe to PSF, I was baptised a Catholic, I am still a Republican, so, were do I fit in your ethos?. I believe a woman has the right to abort a child which she does not want, and, It does not matter if she failed to use safe sex, No matter what the reason ,It is her right.
I know you differ on this, I respect you for that, but, that's exactly what the R.C. Church wants, "Go Fourth And Multiply", "Come unto me Little Children". How do you define the latter?.

I had to laugh because I thought you were talking about Priests/Bishops/Archbishops/Cardinals. I just realised you were talking about "Sir Jimmy Saville", or, was it "Gary Glitter".

Bigotry in all forms is a large part of where we are today we should be working to eradicate it not promote it,Religion has been a powerful weapon in the armoury of the brits who used it to divide and conquer so well, how can you Gerry seriously promote your cause as a republican by non stop references to holy mother Ireland catholic and free to me as a republican and a socialist thats on a par with a protestant parliament for a protestant people. I want justice for Gerry as much as Marian and Martin Corey and indeed all other republicans locked up, if I wanted rosary,s I,d join a monastry.

  25. Itsjustmacker,

‘I was getting a wee bit worried about you, glad you have'nt snuffed it. lol.’

You can’t get rid of me as easy as that and I share your relief that I haven’t snuffed it.

‘I don't subscribe to PSF, I was baptised a Catholic, I am still a Republican, so, were do I fit in your ethos?. ‘

From what you say you seem to be a nominal Catholic and a real Republican.

‘I believe a woman has the right to abort a child which she does not want, …, No matter what the reason ,It is her right.’

The law, at least in Ireland, does not share your belief. In fact, I don’t know of any nation anywhere that has such liberal views on child-slaughter.

‘I just realised you were talking about "Sir Jimmy Saville", or, was it "Gary Glitter".’

It seems that what is breaking at the moment will make the abuse carried out by fake priests seem almost insignificant in comparison. Necrophilia, paedophile-rings, etc, and now it seems the entire British establishment from the top down participated, and those who didn’t participate, knew about it. I don’t hear many calls for those saying they knew what was happening to be gaoled!

‘I'm pleased to say, In this modern society, I have no time for paedo's. Do you john?.’

None whatsoever. Will the gaols be big enough to hold them all? Or will it all blow over because the anti-Catholic angle isn’t there?

    AM,

‘and yet you have so much in common with tthe DUP when you stand outside Marie Stopes with them.’

Even they can’t be wrong on everything.

    Larry,

“(but then what would that bunch of paedo facilitators knows?)”

‘did you type that without blushing?’

I blush now, when I see that I have used a third person singular verb with a plural subject, (albeit a collective noun). It is particularly blush-worthy as I had just picked up Michael Henry on his atrocious grammar.

I should have written, ‘what would that bunch of paedo-facilitators (presenters, producers, prime-ministers etc) KNOW?’

  27. Marty,

'...Religion has been a powerful weapon in the armoury of the brits who used it to divide and conquer so well,...'

Isn't it great that we can put all differences aside and oppose Marie Stopes, the Dupes, the stoops, Gerry and the vast majority of the Irish population!

'how can you Gerry seriously promote your cause as a republican by non stop references to holy mother Ireland catholic and free ...'

Shouldn't all Irish people have an equal shot at salvation? In any case, Gerry has more than one constituency; he is bound by no party so has no reason to toe a particular line on it. Why shouldn't he appeal to those who support him, even if, these days, the only real Irish people live in the USA.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Not in my name John!and as I stated Gerry is entitled to any opinion he so chooses but as a socialist republican,I could never give allegiance or anything else to that type of Ireland envisaged by yourselves,Ireland under the yoke of catholicism and the Vatican is not my idea of freedom.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Marty,

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. There is not much chance of a Catholic Ireland any time soon. You could say there is more chance of hell freezing over.

As for allegiances; I personally would not relish the Socialist Utopia dreamed up by those who who would abort Irish citizens and back a homosexual agenda.

But I won't lose any sleep over that either. Neither of them are going to happen in our life-times. PSF have seen to that.

  30. The only real Irish people live in the USA Fuck me John thats some statement, I,am Irish and proud, my family are rooted here from the beginning of this race hence my Irish surname, I,ve played my part as per Bobby Sands in that struggle and my family have stood up when needed down the generations your statement a cara is insulting, I for one dont need anyone who follows an imported religious opinion to tell me what I am or not.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Marty,

My observation, (not meant to be taken with scientific accuracy) is merely my way of emphasizing the importance of the Catholic Faith for the people of Ireland.

That seems to have all but disappeared from Ireland, together with the will for freedom. It still exists among a lot of the diaspora, particularly in the USA.

Ireland without the Catholic Faith is nothing. It is that Faith that has sustained it, and that ignited a spark in the great heroes of our Nation.

It seems only natural while people now despise it that they should have no hope whatsoever of freedom. Britain took several centuries to defeat the Irish people, and no small part of that was to turn them against their Church.

Ireland un-Catholic may as well be British.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Marty,

Ireland has the right to be free from Catholicism every bit as much as it has the right to be free from the British or whatever else.

Republican Sinn Féin Ard Chomhairle member arrested at POW picket

At a POW picket in Lurgan, Co Armagh on the International Day of Action for Irish Republican POWs, October 27, Cáit Trainor, Ard Chomhairle member, Republican Sinn Féin, Armagh was arrested and taken to Lurgan barracks where she will be held until Monday. From there she will be taken to Hydebank jail in Belfast to serve a two-week sentence imposed in March this year at Craigavon courthouse.

Cait was fined for ‘participating in and organising’ a march through Lurgan in January 2011 in support of Martin Corey, interned without trial in Maghaberry jail, Co Antrim, since his licence was revoked by the British secretary of state in 2010. .

Cáit refused to pay the fine of €700 imposed on her and so today was arrested after once again highlighting the plight of the POWs interned without charge or trial, and also by remand, in Maghaberry jail.

Pickets took place throughout Europe, in Canada and in the US on October 27 to bring awareness to the plight of the POWs.

The ongoing protest in Maghaberry jail will continue to bring people onto the streets until full political status is restored, strip searching and controlled movement ended and freedom of association granted to the men.
