    Martin Corey supporter jailed

A Lurgan man who took part in a protest in January 2011 demanding the release of interned Republican Martin Corey from Maghaberry Jail, was arrested at his home and taken to Maghaberry jail on Saturday October 13, 2012.

Martin Duffy attended the rally in Lurgan, which was supported by up to 300 people at times, was subsequently arrested and charged with ‘participating and organising’ what the PSNI/RUC claimed was an illegal march.

The march was a peaceful one throughout and the only illegal act pertaining to this is the illegal way in which Martin Corey is being held in jail on with no recourse to justice.

Martin was one of many who were fined for taking part in the march and because he refused to pay the fine he spent a week in jail He was also fined for taking part in an Easter Commemoration in Lurgan last year, a fine he also refused to pay. The fines in total came to £1,200.

Martin was locked-down in what in commonly called the committal wing, well away from Roe House where Martin Corey is incarcerated, for 23-hours a day, with just one hour exercise in the yard. It took three days to organise phone call facilities and he was unable to shower for the whole week.

Martin Corey is still interned in Maghaberry jail despite a court ordering his release in July.

  6. From Boston here. I am just curious, does anyone in Northern Ireland do anything for their own political prisoners ?

I may be wrong, and I hope I am, but as one who is a news hound; often I visit sites such as this. It seems to me,that most Republicans or former Republicans have rolled over or given up the cause.

It is the Irish who should be doing the organizing and the Yeoman work that is needed.

  7. From Helen McClafferty:

Gerry phoned to say "It is extremely important that the Irish people continue to work toward becoming a wider Irish nation redefined from Britain and Europe. The Irish people must continue to stand tall and firm against those who are politically working to eradicate all things Irish, religiously, politically, culturally and economically”.

  8. From Helen McClafferty:

Gerry McGeough once again calls on the DUP to condemnanti-Catholic sectarian behavior in East Tyrone and for them to call for the prosecution of those security forces who have been involved in the cold bloodedmurder of innocent Irish civilians prior to the Good Friday Agreement.

In spite of the DUP’s continued persecution against him, Gerry remains an undaunted Irish Patriot and Catholic

  9. From Sandy Boyer:

Marian Price is Suffering from a New Infection.

As Marian Price’s health continues to deteriorate the prison authorities
are blocking her from receiving treatment. She is suffering from further lung infection and is awaiting the results of tests.

She recently missed an appointment with the neurology department in the
Royal Victoria Hospital because the prison authorities didn't give her the appointment letter on time. Doctors were supposed to carry out a nerve construction study because of the numbness in Marian's hand and wrist. The appointment letter was dated September 12th but Marian didn't receive it until October 3rd.

This makes the Public Protest Meeting for Marian Price, Martin Corey and Gerry McGeough on Saturday October 27th at Rocky Sullivan’s of Red Hook in Brooklyn even more urgent. Please be sure to come and help spread the word.
