No Laughter From Our Children
In a piece penned before Patrick's Day Guest writer Helen McClafferty commenting on the turmoil in the life of a chld whose father, Irish Republican Gerry McGeough, is currently facing a political show trial.
Gerry has shared a small family experience which people are describing as "heartbreaking". Apparently, his 7-year-old son got up at 6.30 one morning during the week just as his father was getting ready to leave for the court in Belfast, some fifty miles away.
In a serious and studied manner the child explained that he had come up with an idea. He said that he was going to dig a hole in one of the fields and put planks over it so that it could be used as a den where "Daddy could hide". That way they wouldn't be able to put him in jail.
The real victims in this sadistic saga are the young children whose lives have been plunged into turmoil because of what the British forces in Ireland are doing to their father.
Meanwhile Sinn Féin leaders are excitedly packing their bags this weekend as they prepare to fly off to the United States for the St.Patrick's Day celebrations. There they will be wined and dined while they tell audiences that things have improved in the North of Ireland and that the "Nationalist nightmare is over".
One of Sinn Féin's party slogans is "cherish the children of the Nation equally". Clearly, this does not apply to Gerry McGeough's children, given that not one single Sinn Féin leader has uttered a sound of protest about the outrage that is being perpetrated upon Gerry and his family by the British state in Ireland.

Regardless of what our political differences are - and there are plenty - we should always be behind the prisoners/ex-prisoners one hundred percent. No ifs ands or buts.

fffs what do you expect from those wasters, they have no time for anyone who is not on board ,as for crying children I predict that there will be lots more of them when Gerry and Marty and the rest start calling for internment, now my advice to that wee child would be if your going to dig a hole,well dont stop till you get to Australia,Ijust heard that big Bob Storey was maning a roadblock in west Belfast a while ago, he stopped an Audi Quattro with 5 people on board, Bob said to them thats illegal this car is only for 4 people hence the name."Dont be so stupid" said the driver Quattro is only a name,go get someone with a bit of sense, Bob replied"I cant Gerry is over there dealing with 2 people in a FIAT UNO
just read the Adams retort re the disappeared woman of ten kids...people had to go on the run adopt many ruses?? my God what the f$%k would he know sitting up in front of a microphone doing the brits long term scheme! He must have been talking about Liam lol No wonder he and the RC church sounding equally absurd and pathetic at this time. Unlike Tones grave in 1990s when Gibney delivered his surrender speech to the Brits..i'd certainly return to Gerry's when he's gone to have a big guttery guinness crap on it. lol
just read this and i did not know who this guy was so i went and put his name in google... says he is or was a strong Catholic known for his views anti abortion/homosexual marriage or anything of that nature... a bit sweet for a guy running around with an AK47

The AK-47 is obsolete, there might be tribes in the rainforest who 'civilized' man has yet too meet still running around with them but generally the assault weapon of choice for insurgents these days is the AK-74.

Marty, wasn't sure that would get posted as I was having a bit of a cynical twist near the end there and a good laugh. However, I think its a warning of the lack of censorship here-i'm peeping through my blinds now for the SF heavies lol. But for sure SF +RC church leaving me bemused and bewildered with their outpourings.

Wonder how many of the bottles of "Only our rivers run free (thanks to us) water they packed for their American trip. I suppose if they put enough chlorine in the stuff it would help to purify some of the crap.
Very sad about Gerry's kids and the kids that belong to other republican prisoners. Maybe the shinners could throw a party in Stormont for them, there certainly are enough clowns in the place to entertain them. Or do you have to be insulted by Iris to get an invite to the halls of Brit power? Isn't that why thousands of pounds of taxpayers money was spent trying to convince the gay community how liberal we all are?

Good to see Stormont SF condemning (at last!)the treatment of political prisoners in Maghaberry hellhole by the screws. Some will say too little too late, but at least it's a start. We can only hope it has nothing to do with the elections coming up.
